With the exception of Gun Rights, Dede Scozzafava is a liberal running in Conservative clothing for a congressional seat in New York. Mockazine is not sure why she is endorsed by the Republican party when a much more conservative candidate, Doug Hoffman, is running in the same district.
Not only is she liberal on issues like union card check (which denys workers a private vote on union matters), she is liberal on economic issues too having voiced support for the Obama Stimulus program.
Not surprisingly, she is endorsed by Susan Collins:
"Dede's Latest Tweet It was great having Sen. Susan Collins and Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite in #NY23 for me today. POSTED (10/24)"
For all this and more, she is awarded the Mockazine Republicrat treatment.
UPDATE: 11/01/2009
Dear Dede has dropped out of the race. According to some, it was to make way for the more conservative Hoffman. She was third in the race and had virtually no chance of winning. Lame-stream media is howling at the moon because they claim she is the victim of rabid tea-party conservatives. With utmost sympathy, they refer to the "moderate" Scozzafava as performing some noble, self-sacrificing deed.
I disagree, Mrs. Scozzafava is not a moderate Republican, she is a liberal Democrat (possibly the most liberal contender in this race) who wears the Republican label to gain leadership in a conservative district. Conservatives were right to argue against putting another Arlen Specter in congress. Evidence of my claim? Scozzafava has endorsed her Democrat opponent.
I am not sold on either party. I think both of them are pathetically corrupt because both parties seek power and a larger government instead of seeking to legislate according to their constituents values. Haven't you politicians gotten it yet? We want a smaller, less intrusive government.
