Obama Justice Department Rocked by Investigation Findings

The implications found within the 144 page report issued by the non-partisan U.S. Commission on Civil Rights regarding the investigations into the New Black Panther voter intimidation case from 2008 appears to strongly indicate a cover up initiated by figures within the Obama Department of Justice, and quite possibly the White House itself.  Within the context of this cover up, are found accusations of intimidation and non compliance 

within the Department of Justice throughout the comprehensive investigation.

Colorado Springs Mayor Project

Mayor Project asserts: The ‘more appropriate salary …. The $96,000 set forth in the MP or $210,000 of the last city manager?’

Fact: The MP fails to mention that their proposal includes a ‘chief administrative’ officer that the mayor will hire to run the day-to-day operations that the city manager now runs. The combined salaries of these two positions, Mayor and CAO, will far exceed the salary of a city manager. Colorado Springs, a city of almost 400,000 people, cannot be run effectively by one person, particularly one who has no experience in local government management.

These are just some of the accountability standards that the MP has failed to meet.If the people elect a mayor and council that consists of true leaders whose motivations are simply the good of this community, we will have the kind of government that we deserve, regardless of the form.

What is presently broken in our town is not city hall but the unelected elite’s influence over our community. We need a People Project, not a Mayor Project and we should vote this power-grabbing proposal down.

One of the ballot initiatives in Colorado Springs this election cycle is the Mayor Project which seeks to replace COS current form of government (city council with full time city manager) with "strong mayor" form of government (full time mayor and full time Chief Administrative Officer). The Mayor Project asserts that a strong mayor system will save money by removing the payroll burden for the city manager, but they neglect to explain that the cost of a full time mayor and full time chief administrative officer will cost almost twice as much as our current system. The above linked article examines some other misleading assertions from the Mayor Project.

Supporters of the Mayor Project have pulled together a lot of money to advertise their ballot initiative, but no one with a lot of money has come out to explain the inconsistencies in the MP marketing scheme. Given the misinformation published by the Mayor Project, I am inclined to say that we should vote "no" on this measure and only change what needs to be changed to make our government smaller and more efficient.

Colorado Governor Race 2010

Tancredo, a former GOP congressman best known for his views on immigration, entered the race after Maes won the state Republican Primary. He argued that Maes, who has been abandoned by many of the state’s high-level Republicans, could not win the general election contest.

Tancredo’s support has risen from 14% in late August, while Maes’ support has dropped from a high of 31% just after his primary win earlier that month.  In that same period, Hickenlooper’s support has generally held steady in the low to mid 40s.

I have serious heartburn over voting for someone like Tom Tancredo in Colorado's governor's race.

I changed my party affiliation from Independent to Republican so I could vote for conservative candidates. I voted for Dan Maes in the Republican primary--a race Tancredo did not enter. I chose a candidate who had business experience instead of a career politician. This year, if any, would allow a conservative candidate who is new on the political scene to have a chance to win a race. 

After the primary, when the dust had settled and the party establishment candidate failed, grassroots and small business had a chance to govern Colorado. Tancredo then decides that Maes would not have a chance to win the Governor's race against Democrat John Hickenlooper so he enters the race to cut Maes' chances.  Tancredo and the career politicians of the Republican Party in Colorado are trying to create a self fulfilling prophecy and force the TEA Party candidate (Maes) out of the race.  Maes polled at 31% after the primary and surely would have come up in the polls through campaigning, but Tancredo stepped in and siphoned off the Republican vote.  Without Tancredo in the race, there is every good reason to believe that Maes would be polling ahead of Hickenlooper by now.

Hickenlooper would be at least as bad for Colorado as our current governor, Bill Ritter (whose policies on crime have had a disastrous impact on our state -- not to mention the goofy bathroom bill he signed into law).  The Republican Establishment knows that Coloradans are tired of destructive liberal policies and they have found a way to try to steal back the governors seat by planting their candidate in a third party.  This is dirty politics at it's worse and it is the reason the Republicans lost the governor's seat in 2006.  We the people don't like political corruption.

I, for one, will stand with my vote for Maes.  I can't vote for Tancredo based solely on this Republican Establishment end-run they pulled on Maes.   If the Republican establishment is willing to split the vote and give the state to Hickenlooper, let the fault lie with them.

On the local level, Democrats are pedaling three lines of attack against their Republican opponents, one more pathetic than the next.

* Privatizing Social Security. Many Republican challengers have embraced the plan put forward by Wisconsin Republican Congressman Paul Ryan reiterating the old Bush proposal that people under 55 years of age be allowed to decide for themselves how to invest up to one-third of their Social Security tax payments. This sensible idea, rejected by a Republican Congress in 2005, is being twisted into a proposal for privatization of the system. Most people support the Ryan-Bush idea so when Republicans explain the details, they usually succeed in defusing the Democratic charges.

* Imposing a 23% national sales tax. Those Republicans who have endorsed the Fair Tax proposal pioneered by talk radio host Neil Boortz and the fiscally conservative Club for Growth have been hit with supporting a national sales tax of 23%. But the Democratic ads always forget to mention that this tax has been proposed as a replacement for -- not an addition to -- the federal income tax. The only people who are speculating that a VAT or national sales tax might be added on top of the income tax are in the Obama Administration. Again, once Republicans point out the truth, the Democratic allegation backfires since voters rather like the prospect of a world without the IRS, tax audits, and revenue agents.

* Shipping jobs overseas. In the most convoluted of all negatives, Democrats are accusing their GOP challengers of supporting corporate loopholes which reward companies that open overseas offices with tax favors. They derive this Republican position by construing the no-new-taxes pledge most Republican candidates have taken at the behest of Americans for Tax Reform, headed by Grover Norquist as meaning that no corporate loopholes will be closed. Of course, once Republicans point out that the Obama Administration pushed the General Motors bailout even though two-thirds of the GM jobs were abroad, proposed cash-for-clunkers even though almost half the cars were foreign, and supported TARP bailouts for banks much of whose money went overseas, the accusations fall apart.

That is it! That is the entire Democratic Party campaign! On the strength of these tender reeds rest the entire case of the Party to keep power!

Happy Belated Birthday Mr. President

Aug. 5 (Bloomberg) -- The Senate confirmed Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court, giving President Barack Obama his second appointment to the high court in two years while leaving its ideological balance unchanged.

The vote of 63-37 today was largely along party lines, with five Republicans supporting the nominee and one Democrat, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, opposing her.

Kagan, 50, a former Harvard Law School dean, will be the nation’s 112th justice, fourth woman and just the sixth member of the court who isn’t a white male. For the first time, the nine-member court will have three women as she joins Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Obama’s first appointee, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

“No one can question the intelligence or achievements of this woman,” said Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, a Vermont Democrat. “No one should question her character either.”

Opponents described her as a political activist who lacks judicial experience. The ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Jeff Sessions of Alabama, said she “does not have the gifts and the qualities of mind or temperament” to be a justice.

As a late birthday present to the president, 63 Senators voted to confirm Obama's supremely unqualified supreme court nominee, Elena Kagan.  Only one Senate Democrat had the courage to vote against the far left ideologue.

Jane Norton: Just Another Cog in the Political Machine

Today, I got an e-mail from John McCain's political action committee telling me that he supports Jane Norton to represent Colorado in the Senate.  Sorry John, as far as I can tell, Jane Norton is just another cog in the political machine.  She is a career politician who actively supported the expansion of Colorado government -- an expansion that took place right before our nationwide recession so when Colorado's sale's tax revenues went down, the bloated state government started ran a deficit.  

Jane Norton's record does not show a strong fiscally conservative history.  She is a Tax-and-Spend politician like the ones we are trying to get out of Washington.  I don't really expect John McCain to object to her record, his "progressive (read: Big Government) leanings" are well documented.

What is Jane's only substantial attack on her opponent, Ken Buck?  She is trying to characterize him by one quote:

Poor Jane, can't you see that Ken Buck isn't trying to undo your feminism, he is clearly comparing Denver Political "high heels" to the average Coloradan's cowboy boots.  He is contrasting your political machinations with the average Coloradan's life of hard work out in fields.  He chose footwear for his illustration, but he could have just as easily compared your office's sanitized air conditioning to the cattle-laden breeze across a Weld County ranch; but then you [Jane] still would not have understood him properly.  

Washington's political machine is running all too well right now.  We don't need to replace one cog with another, we need to dismantle the machine.  We don't need more politicians, we need representatives.

Obama's Poll Numbers Down, Imaginary Racism Up - HUMAN EVENTS

Ackerman, frequent guest on MSNBC's "Rachel Maddow Show," continued on Journolist:

"What is necessary is to raise the cost on the right of going after the left. In other words, find a rightwinger's [sic] and smash it through a plate-glass window. Take a snapshot of the bleeding mess and send it out in a Christmas card to let the right know that it needs to live in a state of constant fear. Obviously I mean this rhetorically."

This is what "racism" has come to in America. Democrats are in trouble, so they say "let's call conservatives racists." We always knew it, but the Journolist postings gave us the smoking gun.

This explains why we've heard so much about Tea Partiers being "racists" lately.

But despite a frantic search, the media have been unable to produce any actual evidence of racism at the Tea Parties. Even the trace elements are either frauds or utterly trivial.

For example, there was blind terror last week over a Tea Party billboard in northern Iowa that showed a picture of Adolf Hitler, Obama and Vladimir Lenin under the headings: "National Socialism," "Democratic Socialism" and "Marxist Socialism."

Overheated? Perhaps. Racist? No. Unless liberals are about to break the news that Lenin and Hitler were black, what we have here, gentlemen, is not racism.
